About the role
The Georgia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities is seeking a Certified Clinical Peer Specialist to provide direct support and skill‑building assistance to individuals with behavioral health conditions and developmental disabilities in a variety of settings.
Key responsibilities
- Assist individuals with activities of daily living such as personal hygiene, grooming, dressing, eating, and mobility.
- Provide direct care and support in accordance with each individual’s service or treatment plan.
- Teach and reinforce basic personal, social, academic, and work‑related skills.
- Encourage participation in recreational, social, educational, and community activities.
- Observe and document individuals’ behavior, physical condition, progress, and any incidents.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and supportive living or program environment and follow health, safety, and infection‑control procedures.
- Assist with meal preparation, household tasks, and transportation to appointments when required.
- Respond appropriately to emergencies and report incidents according to established procedures.
Required profile
- High school diploma or GED.
- At least one year of job‑related experience providing social or direct‑care services to individuals with behavioral health conditions, developmental disabilities, or other special needs.
- Current CPR and first‑aid certification.
- Valid Georgia driver’s license (if transportation duties are required).
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
