Certification Engineer – Airworthiness Specialist

About the role

As a member of Airbus' Certification Team, the Certification Engineer is responsible for all airworthiness tasks linked to Customer Service activities and products. The role covers customer‑requested in‑service repairs, optional upgrades and certification of individual aircraft across Airbus commercial programs.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and conduct airworthiness approvals with certificating authorities and validate approvals for importing countries.
• Manage a varied, multi‑ATA and multi‑program workload while ensuring compliance with certification requirements and DOA processes.
• Coordinate with the global Certification Team, Delivery Team and other functions to maintain a consistent “Speak One Voice” approach.
• Perform airworthiness approvals such as Modification (MOD), Service Bulletin (SB), Repair & Design Approval Form (RDAF) and Aircraft Design Declaration (ADD) releases.
• Act as the primary interface to airworthiness authorities for all certification activities.
• Support acceptance of individual aircraft by customers and their local authorities.

Required profile

• B.S. degree in Engineering or related field with at least 3 years of experience in engineering or airworthiness/certification roles.
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills; ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced, dynamic environment.
• Authorized to work in the United States and able to work flexible shifts, including evenings and weekends.
• Ability to interpret a wide variety of technical aircraft topics and mentor junior team members.

Required skills

• Airworthiness approvals (MOD, SB, RDAF, ADD).
• Regulatory interfacing with certification authorities.
• Knowledge of aircraft modification and service bulletin processes.
