Category Buyer – Equipment (Hybrid)

About the role

We are seeking three Category Buyers (Equipment) to join BASF’s Global Procurement team in a hybrid work setting. The role involves developing, executing and continuously improving sourcing strategies for equipment categories across multiple sites, driving cost optimisation, risk mitigation and supply continuity.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute category strategies that optimise cost, mitigate risk and ensure a resilient supply base.
• Lead complex sourcing and negotiation initiatives across the full Source‑to‑Contract lifecycle.
• Translate sourcing strategies into effective contracts and commercial agreements while managing financial, operational and compliance risks.
• Drive savings, productivity, innovation and total‑cost improvements through analytics, demand management and supplier collaboration.
• Manage strategic supplier relationships, performance and governance to strengthen competitiveness and continuous improvement.
• Leverage market intelligence and stakeholder partnerships to shape category strategies and enhance business outcomes.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, Finance, Marketing or related field, or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years of experience in strategic procurement, category buying, strategic sourcing or contract management.
• Proven experience developing and executing category and sourcing strategies and leading complex sourcing projects.
• Strong understanding of services procurement, including scopes of work, pricing models, service levels and risk allocation.
• Ability to conduct spend, market and risk analyses and translate findings into business cases and sourcing plans.
