Campus Police Officer (Part‑Time)

About the role

The State of Georgia, through Atlanta Technical College, is hiring part‑time Campus Police Officers to protect students, faculty, staff and property on the main campus located just south of downtown Atlanta. Officers work under the direction of the Chief of Security and perform specialized police duties on college grounds.

Key responsibilities

• Patrol campus on foot or in a motorized vehicle, issuing citations and warnings as needed.
• Direct traffic, enforce traffic laws, and manage parking regulations.
• Secure buildings and grounds by checking doors, windows and other access points.
• Observe, investigate and report suspicious activity, accidents, vandalism, thefts and fire incidents.
• Provide information and assistance to the public, students, faculty and staff.
• Maintain accurate records of incidents, investigations and traffic accidents.

Required profile

• Must meet Georgia POST certification standards and successfully complete the pre‑employment process.
• Vision of 20/60 uncorrected in each eye and corrected vision of 20/40 or better.
• Ability to read, write and present reports and respond to inquiries.
• Strong problem‑solving skills and the capacity to handle both concrete and abstract situations.

Required skills

• Law‑enforcement certification (Georgia POST).
• Basic report‑writing and documentation abilities.
• Effective verbal communication with diverse audiences.
