CAD Technician

About the role

At Davis, Bowen & Friedel, Inc. (DBF), CAD Technicians support the production of infrastructure designs that improve community quality of life. This full‑time, on‑site role involves drafting, design, and development of construction drawings for water, wastewater, stormwater, streets, and residential projects.

Key responsibilities

• Utilize the latest design software to accurately render and communicate design plans and related systems.
• Perform analyses and calculations according to project requirements.
• Coordinate with engineers and surveyors regarding model accuracy, drafting standards, and design documentation.
• Prepare project documentation for client submittal.
• Use feedback to modify existing designs and develop solutions.
• Provide timely technical assistance.
• Handle multiple projects and/or tasks simultaneously.

Required profile

• Detail oriented with a solid understanding of building and site design and construction.
• Creative, able to develop innovative solutions within the built environment.
• Effective communicator who can clearly convey ideas and listen actively.
• Critical thinker capable of problem solving and adapting to a fast‑paced environment.

Required skills

• Proficiency with AutoCAD (required).
• Experience with Carlson Precision 3D or Civil 3D (preferred).
• Basic knowledge of site design, grading, drainage, and erosion control (preferred).
