Business Development & Sustainability Manager Americas

About the role

We are seeking a Business Development & Sustainability Manager for the Americas to join BASF’s Petrochemicals team in Houston. You will lead the creation and execution of sustainable growth strategies, combining deep sustainability expertise with a strong commercial mindset to drive circular and low‑carbon solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement the sustainability strategy for BASF’s Petrochemicals business across the Americas.
• Drive growth of Biomass Balance, ChemCycling and other low‑carbon solutions through market‑focused portfolio development and customer engagement.
• Build strategic partnerships and collaborations that enhance BASF’s sustainability offering.
• Collaborate with business management, procurement, technology, operations, supply chain, advocacy and global sustainability teams to translate strategies into business impact.
• Monitor sustainability trends, regulatory developments, emerging technologies, customer needs and competitive landscape to identify new opportunities.
• Manage the development of renewable, circular and low‑emission feedstock portfolios, including supplier negotiations and qualifications.

Required profile

• Strong commercial mindset combined with sustainability expertise.
• Experience in business development and customer engagement within the petrochemical or chemical industry.
• Proven ability to build strategic partnerships and work cross‑functionally.
• Knowledge of sustainability trends, regulatory frameworks and emerging low‑carbon technologies.
• Experience negotiating and qualifying renewable or circular feedstock suppliers.
