Building Supervisor, Recreation Center

About the role

The Recreation Center Building Supervisor ensures operational safety, facility coverage, and outstanding customer service across all Physical Education, Athletics, and Recreation spaces. This role maintains an inclusive, safe environment for students, faculty, staff, and external guests during recreational, academic, athletic, and special-event programming.

Key responsibilities

• Execute daily opening and closing procedures, conduct hourly safety and cleanliness walkthroughs, and set up/break down equipment for fieldhouse courts, club sports, intramurals, and special events.
• Greet visitors, process user check-ins, answer inquiries, manage equipment checkouts, and provide direction on facility amenities.
• Oversee and support student workers assigned to the front desk and fitness center areas during operational hours.
• Serve as primary on-site responder during incidents, implementing emergency action plans, medical procedures, and facility evacuations.
• Coordinate daily with custodial, laundry, athletic, and event staff to ensure smooth overall operations.
• Maintain operational logs, assist with facility software/reservations, and perform other duties as assigned.

Required profile

• Flexible availability, including early mornings, evenings, and weekends.
• Current CPR, First Aid, and AED certifications (or ability to obtain within 60 days of hire).
• Strong interpersonal skills with a welcoming, customer-focused approach.
• Basic computer literacy to manage facility check-in systems and follow written/oral protocols.
• Physical ability to lift up to 45 lb, stand or walk for extended periods, and perform physical setups.
• Commitment to promoting healthy, active lifestyles and holistic well‑being.
