Building Services Technician

About the role

The Building Services Technician works under the direction of the Industrial Services Manager to maintain, repair, install, and oversee equipment and facilities at Nestlé’s Schaumburg site. The role ensures a safe, consistent, and high‑quality environment for food production.

Key responsibilities

• Perform preventative maintenance, installation and repair of facilities and related equipment.
• Participate in a monthly after‑hours call rotation to address emergency situations.
• Schedule, prioritize, and document workload while maintaining equipment records.
• Attend training on ammonia refrigeration, electrical, HVAC, plumbing, network and building management systems.
• Use equipment manuals, SDS, schematics, P&ID’s and blueprints to troubleshoot and maintain systems.
• Maintain documentation according to Nestlé standards.
• Execute office relocation tear‑downs, set‑ups, and furniture, carpet, and conference‑room equipment installation.

Required profile

• Ability to work overtime, irregular hours or rotating shifts.
• High School Diploma/GED (preferred) and at least 2 years of general maintenance experience, preferably in food manufacturing.
• Detail‑oriented with strong communication skills and basic proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word.
• Capability to obtain necessary certifications/licenses.
• Physical ability to lift 50 lb, push/pull objects and climb ladders.

Required skills

• Electrical, plumbing, mechanical and HVAC systems maintenance.
• Hand tools and basic power tools (electrical and pneumatic).
• Card Access systems (Honeywell), CCTV, and Building Management Systems (Johnson Controls, Tritium).
• Ammonia refrigeration knowledge.
