Bone Marrow Transplant Section Head

About the role

Ochsner Health is seeking a Board‑certified physician to lead its Bone Marrow Transplant Section. The Section Head will oversee clinical care, coordinate interdisciplinary teams, and uphold Ochsner’s core values of patient‑first service, integrity, and excellence.

Key responsibilities

• Examine patients, establish diagnoses, and prescribe medications, treatment regimens, and follow‑up care.
• Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team to develop and implement comprehensive transplant treatment plans.
• Document all patient encounters accurately in the Electronic Health Record and ensure proper medical coding.
• Request additional evaluations, make referrals, and maintain compliance with hospital policies, accreditation standards, and federal regulations.
• Travel between facilities as needed and handle hazardous drugs safely throughout the care process.

Required profile

• Board‑certified or board‑eligible in the physician’s primary specialty.
• Licensed MD or DO with active credentialing and willingness to maintain clinical practice.
• Commitment to professional standards, teamwork, and continuous quality improvement.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Electronic Health Record (EHR) documentation.
• Knowledge of accurate medical coding practices.
• Experience handling hazardous drugs and related safety protocols.
