Behavioral Health Counselor, Licensed – Columbus

About the role

The Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities seeks a Licensed Behavioral Health Counselor to join the West Central Georgia Regional Hospital team in Columbus. This position focuses on preventive counseling and behavior medication management to support individuals and groups.

Key responsibilities

• Counsel individuals and groups on mental health, family, parenting, marriage, suicide prevention, stress management, self‑esteem, aging, and emotional health.
• Emphasize prevention strategies and behavior medication oversight.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and may serve as a team leader.
• Maintain accurate clinical documentation and comply with state regulations.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in a related field with at least two years of relevant experience, or a Bachelor’s degree with comparable experience.
• Current Georgia licensure enabling practice within the state.
• Ability to pass background checks, drug screening, TB evaluation, and annual influenza vaccination (exemptions may apply).
