Avionics Engineer, Flight Computer

About the role

Cowboy Space Corp. is seeking a hands‑on Avionics Engineer to lead the design, development, integration and qualification of its spacecraft flight computer. The role focuses on delivering reliable, radiation‑tolerant hardware that serves as the central computing platform for satellite missions.

Key responsibilities

• Architect and design flight‑computer hardware from concept through flight qualification.
• Own schematic capture, component selection, board bring‑up, debugging and verification.
• Design high‑reliability digital electronics using modern processors, SoCs, FPGAs, memory and high‑speed interfaces.
• Develop fault‑tolerant architectures with redundancy, watchdogs and FDIR mechanisms.
• Define interfaces to power, propulsion, GNC, payload, communications and telemetry subsystems.
• Lead board‑level validation, environmental testing and design verification.
• Partner with embedded‑software and FPGA engineers for hardware/software integration.
• Support manufacturing, DFM/DFT reviews, supplier engagement and production test development.
• Ensure EMC/EMI compliance, signal‑integrity, power‑integrity and reliability analyses.

Required profile

• BS, MS or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or a related discipline.
• 5+ years of experience developing complex digital hardware for embedded systems.
• Proven experience designing processor‑based embedded platforms.
• Strong schematic capture and board‑level debugging expertise.
