Automation and Instrumentation Engineer

About the role

Join BASF's Performance Chemicals team in Seneca, SC as an Automation and Instrumentation Engineer. You will support, maintain, and enhance electrical, instrumentation, and process automation systems across the site, driving reliability and continuous improvement.

Key responsibilities

• Provide technical support and troubleshooting for PLCs, VFDs, HMIs, MCCs, sensors, valves, motors, and Wonderware System Platform.
• Design, develop, and enhance automation solutions while investigating equipment downtime and quality deviations.
• Perform preventive maintenance on electrical, instrumentation, digitalization, and automation equipment.
• Manage industrial automation applications, hardware, and change management processes per site policies.
• Maintain accurate documentation, drawings, and technical records for electrical and process control systems.
• Lead automation and capital improvement projects, overseeing scope, schedule, budget, and technical specifications.
• Ensure equipment installations and modifications comply with NFPA, OSHA, BASF, and other safety regulations.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Automation, Instrumentation Engineering or related field.
• Minimum five years of experience supporting and optimizing industrial automation and instrumentation systems in a manufacturing environment.
• Professional certifications or technical accreditations in automation, controls, instrumentation, or project management are a plus.
