Auditor 1 – Government Auditing Position

About the role

The State of Georgia is seeking an Auditor 1 to support compliance, financial and operational audit projects across the Department of Community Health. This full‑time position offers the opportunity to work directly with mid‑to‑senior management and contribute to improving public services for over 10 million citizens.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and execute performance, operational, financial and compliance audit engagements.
• Conduct thorough risk assessments to properly scope audit projects.
• Prepare clear, concise working papers in line with departmental standards.
• Analyze audit documentation, including financial statements, budget compliance reports and claims data.
• Interview staff and perform walkthroughs to evaluate internal controls.
• Draft narratives, conclusions and recommendations based on audit findings.
• Organize audit work according to policies and assist in preparing reports and manuscripts.

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED with at least two years of relevant experience.
• Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
• Strong interpersonal communication skills.
