Attorney – Environmental Protection Division (Georgia)

About the role

The State of Georgia is seeking a qualified attorney to join the Environmental Protection Division within the Department of Natural Resources. Working under supervision, you will provide legal analysis, research, and recommendations on environmental matters and act as a liaison with the Georgia Department of Law.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct legal research and analysis on environmental protection programs, policies, and regulations.
• Prepare written recommendations and opinions for agency leadership.
• Serve as the primary point of contact between the agency and the Georgia Department of Law.
• Assist in drafting and reviewing regulatory documents, permits, and compliance reports.
• Support both full‑time and part‑time operational needs of the division.

Required profile

• Juris Doctorate from an accredited institution.
• Licensed to practice law in Georgia or eligible to sit for the Georgia Bar within one year of hiring.
• Strong legal research, analytical, and writing abilities.
• Experience in administrative and environmental law preferred.
