Associate / VP – LATAM Structuring (CIB)

About the role

Santander’s Corporate & Investment Banking division is seeking an Associate or Vice President to originate, structure, and execute LATAM‑focused financing and risk‑management solutions. The role works within the U.S. CIB franchise and serves on‑shore banks, asset managers, insurance companies, sovereign and quasi‑sovereign clients, as well as offshore LATAM‑focused hedge funds.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement tailored Funding, FX, Rates, and Derivatives structures for LATAM financial institutions and sovereign clients.
• Generate innovative ideas and bespoke solutions that address hedging, liability management, cash‑flow optimisation, and balance‑sheet strategy.
• Collaborate closely with Sales, Trading, Treasury/Funding, Risk, Legal, and Compliance teams throughout the deal lifecycle.
• Prepare client‑facing materials such as pitches, scenario analyses, payoff explanations, and approval documentation.
• Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of LATAM market dynamics, cross‑currency funding considerations, and local conventions.
• Support pricing discussions with trading desks and ensure structures are properly documented and risk‑managed.
• Ensure compliance with internal policies, suitability frameworks, and applicable regulations.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 years of experience in structuring or market‑solution roles for financial institutions, sovereign clients, or offshore LATAM‑focused funds.
• Demonstrated expertise across Funding, Derivatives, Rates, and FX products.
• Proven ability to manage multiple workstreams in a fast‑paced environment.
• Strong understanding of product mechanics, pricing fundamentals, and risk considerations.
• Fluency in Spanish is required; Portuguese is a plus.
