Associate General Counsel – Commercial

About the role

BusPatrol is seeking an Associate General Counsel – Commercial to serve as the primary legal partner to the Chief Revenue Officer and Chief Growth Officer. The role focuses on negotiating and managing contracts with state and local government agencies, supporting revenue growth, and ensuring compliance with public‑safety technology regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Negotiate and draft agreements with state and local government customers, including counties, cities, towns, and school districts.
• Negotiate and draft vendor agreements with suppliers, manufacturers, and consultants.
• Audit contracts for renewal deadlines, manage RFP responses, and maintain contract templates, clause libraries, and playbooks.
• Provide practical legal advice to sales, finance, leadership, and HR teams on commercial and compliance matters.

Required profile

• Minimum 12 years of commercial contracting experience focused on state and local government agencies.
• Experience with state and local procurement laws, RFP processes, and freedom of information/public disclosure rules.
• Proven ability to work independently, anticipate downside risk, and structure agreements accordingly.
• Admission to the bar in at least one U.S. state and a JD or LL.M degree.
