Associate Director, University Center

About the role

The Associate Director, University Center supports the Director in overseeing all operational aspects of the University Center at Texas A&M University‑Corpus Christi. This senior position leads the reservations function, supervises event staff and student employees, and acts as the interim director when needed.

Key responsibilities

• Provide leadership for the reservations and information desk, interpreting and enforcing related policies.
• Plan, coordinate, and support campus events, ensuring smooth execution and client satisfaction.
• Oversee complex scheduling using a tiered reservation system and prioritize client needs.
• Communicate with service partners (health & safety, IT, facilities, custodial, parking) to align resources for events.
• Supervise professional and para‑professional staff, graduate assistants, and student employees.
• Serve as acting director in the Director’s absence and advise on departmental operations.

Required profile

• Demonstrated ability to work independently and professionally in a university environment.
• Strong supervisory experience with staff and student workers.
• Excellent judgment, problem‑solving, and political acumen.
• Effective communication skills with internal and external stakeholders.
