About the role
The Department of History at the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville invites applications for a full‑time, tenure‑track Assistant Professor position focused on U.S. Latino/a/e History. The appointment begins in August 2027 and is a standard nine‑month faculty role with a 2‑2 teaching load.
Key responsibilities
- Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in U.S. history and specialized U.S. Latino/a/e history.
- Maintain an active research program, publish scholarly work, and pursue external funding.
- Provide academic advising, mentor graduate students, and contribute to departmental and university service.
Required profile
- Ph.D. in History or a closely related field conferred by the start date.
- Research specialization in U.S. Latino/a/e history with evidence of a strong publication trajectory.
- Demonstrated or strong potential for excellence in teaching.
- Preferred: a clear plan for a major scholarly book, ability to teach broadly in U.S. history, and interest in interdisciplinary and community‑engaged scholarship.
