Assistant Professor (9‑Month) in Public Relations

About the role

The University of Arkansas at Little Rock’s School of Mass Communication is hiring a 9‑month Assistant Professor to teach public relations. The appointment involves delivering courses in face‑to‑face, hybrid, online, and weekend formats while maintaining an active research and community‑service agenda.

Key responsibilities

• Teach assigned public relations courses across multiple delivery modes.
• Develop and update curriculum and instructional materials.
• Advise and supervise undergraduate and graduate students.
• Maintain an active research or creative work agenda in the discipline.
• Collaborate with faculty, staff, and community partners on departmental initiatives.
• Participate in university and community service activities.

Required profile

• Terminal degree (PhD, EdD, JD, MFA) in public relations or a related field; ABD or AB thesis considered.
• College teaching experience in public relations or a related discipline (preferred).
• Professional experience in public relations or a related field (preferred).
• Experience supervising student projects or research.
• Evidence of scholarly or creative activity relevant to the discipline.
