Assistant Engineer – Associate Engineer II

About the role

This position is with Maryland Environmental Service at the BWI Marshall Airport field office, a 24/7 emergency essential facility. The role involves providing technical engineering support for stormwater, spill prevention, underground storage tank (UST) and aboveground storage tank (AST) compliance, and related environmental programs.

Key responsibilities

• Perform engineering analyses, calculations, and planning for stormwater management and spill prevention.
• Assess monitoring data, develop and review construction documents, and ensure technical adequacy of reports.
• Prepare written technical reports, correspondence, and documentation for regulatory compliance.
• Work nights, weekends, holidays, and adverse weather conditions as required by the essential facility status.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline (Civil, Environmental, Mechanical, Geotechnical, Electrical, etc.).
• Relevant experience: none for Assistant Engineer, 2 years for Associate Engineer, 4 years for Associate Engineer II (master’s degree may substitute two years).
• Ability to obtain UST and AST Inspector certifications within 18 months.
• Eligibility for Homeland Security clearance and a valid driver’s license with fewer than 5 points.
