Assistant Director of Security (Macon, GA)

About the role

The State of Georgia’s Department of Juvenile Justice is seeking an Assistant Director of Security to oversee operations at the Macon Youth Detention Center. This senior position is responsible for maintaining a safe, secure environment for youth offenders and staff.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and enforce security and facility policies and procedures.
• Direct subordinate supervisors and staff, monitoring all security functions.
• Conduct inspections, searches, investigations, and crisis response activities.
• Manage human‑resource functions, including hiring, training, evaluating, and disciplining staff.
• Oversee budgetary activities and ensure compliance with fiscal guidelines.
• Coordinate and evaluate programs, services, and operational conditions within the facility.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
• At least three years of experience in a criminal‑justice or correctional setting, with supervisory responsibilities.
• Demonstrated ability to lead teams, manage budgets, and handle emergency situations.
• Preference for candidates with a degree in Criminal Justice, Business, or Public Administration and additional management experience.
