About the role

The State of Georgia is seeking an Assistant Director of Security to oversee security operations at a correctional facility in Columbus, GA. This leadership position is responsible for ensuring the safety and custody of inmates while managing staff and facility policies.

Key responsibilities

• Direct and monitor state prison security functions and activities.
• Identify training needs and provide guidance to correctional staff.
• Interview, hire, train, evaluate, discipline, and, when necessary, discharge corrections employees.
• Manage human resources and administrative activities for corrections staff.
• Oversee operations of correctional facilities and detention centers, including budget monitoring.
• Conduct inspections, searches, investigations, and evaluations.
• Perform crisis response, containment, and emergency intervention.
• Plan, implement, and coordinate various correctional programs and activities.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent supervisory custodial experience.
• At least three years of relevant experience in a criminal justice or correctional system.
• Supervisory experience equivalent to a manager in a law‑enforcement setting.
• Ability to meet agency physical agility standards and pass required assessments.
