Assistant Director of Forensic Services – Psychologist

About the role

The State of Georgia is seeking an Assistant Director of Forensic Services to join the West Central Georgia Regional Hospital in Columbus. This senior psychologist will supervise clinical staff, oversee forensic psychiatric units, and provide backup to the Hospital Forensic Director.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise master’s‑level counselors, recovery team facilitators, and treatment mall coordinators delivering active treatment for forensic patients.
• Conduct and review forensic psychological evaluations such as competency to stand trial, criminal responsibility, and risk assessments.
• Oversee clinical operations of three inpatient forensic psychiatric units, ensuring compliance with treatment plans and behavior support guidelines.
• Assist the Forensic Director with court order reviews, admissions, releases, and community integration home oversight.

Required profile

• Doctorate or master’s degree in psychology (or related field) from an accredited institution.
• Required licensed psychologist status in the State of Georgia.
• Minimum three years of management or supervisory experience in health‑care services (or equivalent experience as defined in the posting).
• Extensive experience completing and supervising forensic psychological evaluations and managing interdisciplinary treatment programs.
