Assistant Controller

About the role

We are seeking a dynamic and detail‑oriented Assistant Controller to join our finance team in Sacramento. This role offers the chance to lead key accounting functions, ensure regulatory compliance, and support strategic decision‑making in a collaborative environment.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and oversee corporate accounting functions, including general ledger reconciliation, journal entries, accounts payable and receivable, and month‑end closing.
• Ensure compliance with GAAP and other regulatory standards.
• Prepare, analyze and interpret financial statements, reports and forecasts to support decision‑making.
• Lead balance‑sheet, bank and account reconciliations to maintain accurate records.
• Implement and monitor internal controls across accounting systems such as Yardi and Trimble.
• Mentor junior accounting staff and provide technical guidance.
• Support external audits by preparing documentation and maintaining audit readiness.

Required profile

• Strong understanding of technical accounting concepts including accruals, double‑entry bookkeeping, journal entries and financial statement preparation.
• Ability to communicate complex financial information clearly to diverse audiences.
• Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail in reconciliations and ledger oversight.
• Proven experience mentoring and developing junior team members.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Yardi accounting software.
• Proficiency with Trimble accounting software.
• Advanced Excel skills, including financial reporting and analysis.
