Assistant Coach - Track & Field - Sprints

About the role

Adams State University is looking for an Assistant Coach for the Track & Field sprints program in Alamosa, Colorado. The position reports to the Director of Cross Country/Track & Field and provides instruction, coaching expertise and leadership to student athletes, helping the head coach manage the program so that student athletes have a positive collegiate experience. It is an on-site role.

Key responsibilities

• Coach student athletes, evaluate their performance in practice and competition, teach fundamental techniques and model sportsmanship and good behaviour.
• Implement a recruiting strategy that complies with NCAA and RMAC rules and departmental policies.
• Work with the head coach and compliance officer on eligibility, financial aid, facilities scheduling, contest administration and game operations.
• Handle video game exchange, editing, film sessions and game uploads/downloads in line with NCAA and RMAC guidelines.
• Plan, supervise and monitor practices, group workouts, shooting and film sessions, and track student athletes' academic progress, classroom checks and study hall attendance.
• Help run summer camps and clinics, and assist with fundraising for the program.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree required; master's degree preferred.
• Legal authorization to work in the United States; the university cannot sponsor visas.
• Knowledge of NCAA, RMAC, university and department rules, and a commitment to student academic success.
• High ethical standards, initiative and integrity, and the ability to work respectfully with diverse people and manage conflicts.
