Assistant Attorney General – Consumer Protection

About the role

The Attorney General’s Office is seeking a motivated attorney to join the Consumer Protection Division. The Assistant Attorney General will help enforce the Massachusetts Consumer Protection Act and protect residents from abusive business practices.

Key responsibilities

• Pursue major litigation involving social media platforms and child safety.
• Identify and evaluate problematic business practices for potential enforcement.
• Investigate and litigate civil actions on behalf of the Commonwealth.
• Develop and implement strategies to remedy industry‑wide consumer abuses.
• Participate in legislative and regulatory policy development at state and federal levels.

Required profile

• Member of the Massachusetts Bar.
• At least three years of complex litigation or equivalent legal experience (preferred).
• Strong ability to integrate new and complex subject areas.
• Excellent formal and informal writing, legal analysis, negotiation, and oral advocacy skills.
• Capability to analyze and explain complex data.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
• Commitment to public‑interest law and serving vulnerable communities.
• Fluency in Spanish, Portuguese, or other languages is a plus.
