Application Engineer III – Semiconductor Tools

About the role

Applied Materials seeks an Application Engineer III to support service product development, drive NPI testing, and optimize customer sites for high‑volume semiconductor and display manufacturing. The role blends software development, data analytics, and deep manufacturing knowledge to improve tool reliability and customer outcomes.

Key responsibilities

• Support service product development through NPI testing and on‑site optimization.
• Develop algorithms and analytics solutions using Python, R, and AI/ML techniques.
• Build and maintain applications, dashboards, and APIs for R&D and high‑volume manufacturing.
• Analyze SPC, FDC, sensor, and equipment data to identify root causes and enhance tool reliability.
• Partner with cross‑functional teams to define requirements, demonstrate digital tools, and drive field adoption.

Required profile

• Semiconductor field operations experience or strong manufacturing knowledge.
• Application design experience for high‑volume manufacturing tools and scripting proficiency.
• Experience with at least one semiconductor tool type and its maintenance.
• Background in software development and application design.
• Preferred experience in 300 mm semiconductor or display manufacturing.
