Aircraft Mechanic

About the role

The CBP Aircraft Mechanic is responsible for maintaining, repairing, inspecting, and servicing assigned aircraft in a maintenance and operations environment, ensuring compliance with 14 CFR and DoD regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Perform maintenance, preventive maintenance, inspections, repairs, and modifications on both fixed‑wing and rotary‑wing aircraft.
• Conduct daily and turnaround inspections, corrosion control, troubleshooting, and fault isolation on aircraft systems.
• Fly on government aircraft for relocation, in‑flight checks, and troubleshooting that cannot be completed on the ground.
• Travel to temporary duty sites within and outside the United States as required.

Required profile

• U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain a CBP Background Investigation Suitability clearance.
• Valid State driver’s license and willingness to undergo random drug testing.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid FAA Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) certificate.

Required skills

• FAA A&P certification with Airframe and Powerplant ratings.
• Competence in maintenance of aircraft structures, hydraulics, fuel, electrical systems, and engines.
• Ability to read and interpret schematics, blueprints, technical manuals, and directives.
• Experience with rotary‑wing aircraft, preferably UH‑60 Blackhawk.
