AI/ML Engineer (Active TS/SCI) – Dayton, OH

About the role

Rackner is seeking an AI/ML Engineer to design, integrate, and operationalize machine‑learning solutions that support a high‑impact federal mission. The role spans the full AI lifecycle, from model development to deployment and user enablement, and requires an active TS/SCI clearance.

Key responsibilities

• Build and evaluate machine‑learning, deep‑learning, and generative‑AI models for mission‑critical use cases.
• Integrate AI/ML capabilities into software applications, APIs, data pipelines, and existing technical environments.
• Prepare and curate datasets for training, testing, and operational workflows.
• Translate prototypes into scalable, reproducible, and secure production services.
• Develop interfaces and services that allow users to interact with AI/ML models and metadata.
• Create technical documentation, runbooks, and repeatable processes to support adoption and sustainment.
• Collaborate with software engineers, data engineers, product owners, and subject‑matter experts.

Required profile

• Hands‑on experience delivering applied machine‑learning solutions beyond notebooks.
• Proficiency in Python and at least one major ML framework (e.g., PyTorch or TensorFlow).
• Experience with computer vision, natural language processing, generative AI, or predictive modeling.
• Ability to explain design decisions, evaluation methods, and user impact.
• Comfort working with large, sensitive, or regulated datasets in secure environments.
