AI & Work Reporter (Full-Time)

About the role

Charter, the sister news organization of The San Francisco Standard, is seeking an AI & Work Reporter to deepen its coverage of how artificial intelligence is reshaping workplaces. Reporting to the managing editor, you will create in‑depth journalism for a senior business audience and help shape live events.

Key responsibilities

• Research, write, and edit articles, newsletters, and research playbooks on AI’s impact on work.
• Contribute content for the email newsletter, website, and other editorial products.
• Develop and moderate virtual and in‑person events, recruiting speakers and facilitating discussions.
• Collaborate with the tech reporting team at The San Francisco Standard and cross‑publish content.
• Build relationships with AI executives, researchers, and companies for sourcing stories and event participation.

Required profile

• Proven experience covering technology, AI, or workplace trends for a business readership.
• Strong reporting, editorial judgment, and ability to translate complex topics into practical insights.
• Comfortable with public speaking, moderating panels, and event programming.
• Demonstrated curiosity about AI tools and willingness to experiment with them in the newsroom.
