AI Engineer - Agents

About the role

Join Campfire as an AI Engineer to build production AI agents that help customers get real accounting work done. You’ll combine strong software engineering fundamentals with hands‑on experience developing and operating agentic applications, from automating financial workflows to helping customers understand and act on their financial data.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement the architecture for production AI agents that automate financial workflows.
• Ship customer‑facing features and establish reliable engineering practices, including testing, monitoring, and debugging.
• Collaborate with product, design, and other engineering teams to translate ambiguous problems into trusted software solutions.

Required profile

• Strong software engineering background with experience designing, building, and operating production backend systems in Python.
• Hands‑on experience shipping LLM‑powered agents used by real customers, including tool calling, orchestration, retrieval, and integration with application data.
• Proven ability to own agent quality in production through evaluation, tracing, monitoring, and systematic debugging.
• Experience making architectural decisions, mentoring engineers, and raising engineering standards.
