AI Architect – Contract Role

About the role

Telus Digital is building a company‑wide approach to using AI in software development. The AI Architect will shape standards, guardrails, and practices that let engineering teams build with AI agents safely, consistently, and quickly.

Key responsibilities

• Define and roll out an organization‑wide spec‑driven development approach for AI agents.
• Introduce and operationalize an AI‑driven development lifecycle (AI‑DLC) across requirements, design, build, review, testing, and operations.
• Create and maintain guardrails such as steering documents, constitutions, agent rules, review gates, and quality checks, customized per team.
• Evaluate, select, and standardize tooling (e.g., Kiro, GitHub Spec Kit, agentic coding assistants).
• Partner directly with development teams: pair program, write code, unblock issues, and demonstrate standards in real deliveries.
• Collaborate with business stakeholders to translate requirements into specifications usable by both humans and AI agents.
• Measure adoption and impact, iterating standards as tooling evolves.

Required profile

• Hands‑on experience with spec‑driven development and related industry tools.
• Proven ability to create and enforce technical guardrails for AI‑generated work.
• Strong collaboration skills with both engineering and business leaders.
• Technical leadership mindset with a willingness to write code and work alongside delivery teams.
