Agronomist – Field Trial Specialist

About the role

Join BASF Agricultural Solutions as an Agronomist in Memphis, TN, focusing on soybean and cotton field trials across the Midsouth region. You will execute trial protocols, generate high‑quality data, and support breeding and trait development programs.

Key responsibilities

• Execute field trial protocols for breeding and trait development.
• Establish, maintain, and evaluate soybean and cotton trials to produce reliable data.
• Conduct trait efficacy, chemistry, and yield trials across the Midsouth.
• Collect and analyze field performance data to support R&D objectives.
• Collaborate with regulatory, stewardship, quality, and safety teams to ensure compliance.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Biological Sciences, Agronomy, Plant Pathology, Weed Science, or related field; or Bachelor’s plus 2 years experience; or High School plus 6 years experience.
• Experience coordinating and conducting small‑plot research trials, preferably with cotton or soybean.
• Willingness to work outdoors in varying conditions and flexible hours, including weekends during peak seasons.
• Ability to travel up to 15% of the time.

Required skills

• Operation of agricultural research equipment: tractors, planters, sprayers, drones (UAS), combine harvesters.
• Use of trial management and data collection software.
• Knowledge of regulated and stewarded crop trial management.
• Pesticide Applicator License and FAA Part 107 certification (or ability to obtain).
