Agricultural Solutions Professional Development Program – Seeds & Traits Research (Breeding)

About the role

The 36‑month Professional Development Program at BASF Agricultural Solutions offers recent PhD graduates a cross‑functional experience in Seeds & Traits Research – Breeding. Participants rotate through three 12‑month assignments across greenhouse, field, laboratory and office environments, gaining hands‑on exposure to statistical analysis, seed operations, digital tools, trait biology, breeding genetics and agronomy.

Key responsibilities

• Complete three distinct rotational assignments, contributing to strategic projects and day‑to‑day operations within Seeds & Traits Research.
• Support competitive breeding programs by applying scientific knowledge, evaluating experimental approaches and analyzing results.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to improve workflows, develop innovative solutions and communicate progress through reports and presentations.
• Participate in technical training, mentorship and leadership development activities to strengthen scientific and entrepreneurial skills.

Required profile

• PhD completed within 12 months of hire (December 2026 – May 2027) in Plant Breeding, Genetics, Crop Science or related field.
• Authorization to work in the United States without future sponsorship.
• Self‑driven, collaborative mindset with strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
• Willingness to work in multiple geographic locations during the program.
