Agency Attorney II

About the role

The Early Intervention Unit of the New York City Police Department is seeking an Agency Attorney II to support the Early Intervention Program. The attorney will analyze at‑risk members, review police documentation, and ensure legal compliance with remedial actions.

Key responsibilities

• Analyze and assess candidates who meet the threshold for inclusion in the Early Intervention Program.
• Conduct comprehensive reviews of police documents, reports, and body‑worn camera footage.
• Make recommendations on appropriate interventions based on legal analysis.
• Review cases involving suppression of evidence and court‑ordered indemnification, identifying legal issues for program inclusion.
• Ensure compliance with ordered interventions and provide data for quarterly reporting.

Required profile

• Qualified legal professional with experience reviewing law‑enforcement documentation.
• Ability to identify legal issues and provide clear analysis.
• Familiarity with police procedures and evidence handling.
• Strong communication skills for coordination with commanding officers and stakeholders.
