Affiliate Athletic Trainer – Minor League

About the role

The Boston Red Sox Medical team is hiring an Affiliate Athletic Trainer to provide comprehensive sports‑medicine care at one of its Minor League affiliates. The position is year‑round, salaried, and includes duties during spring training, the championship season, off‑season check‑ins, and fall performance programs. The trainer will work under the Minor League Athletic Training Coordinator and Head Minor League Team Physician.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver prevention, evaluation, treatment, and rehabilitation for player injuries and illnesses.
• Collaborate with coaches and cross‑functional departments to ensure coordinated sports‑medicine care.
• Maintain accurate, timely documentation in the MLB EMR system.
• Coordinate infection‑control protocols and complete assigned administrative reporting.
• Schedule and execute athlete monitoring assessments for Strength & Conditioning, Health & Performance, and Sports Science initiatives.

Required profile

• Ability to build trust and rapport with players and staff from diverse cultural backgrounds.
• In‑depth knowledge of anatomy, physiology, kinesiology, and sport‑specific impairments.
• Experience designing exercise programs for injury prevention, motor control, conditioning, and therapeutic purposes.
• Certified Athletic Trainer (ATC) and eligible for state licensure in the affiliate’s state.
• Willingness to relocate to Fort Myers, FL and commit to the full duration of the position.

Required skills

• Certified Athletic Trainer (ATC) credential.
• State athletic training licensure (or eligibility).
• Proficiency with the MLB EMR documentation system.
