Administrative Support / Unit Clerk – GRHS, Savannah

About the role

The Admin Support/Unit Clerk works between the clinical units and Health Information Management, reporting to the Nursing Department. The position is responsible for processing discharged charts, ensuring accurate medical records, and supporting clinicians with timely information.

Key responsibilities

• Analyze, file, scan, and process discharged charts on the units.
• Notify clinicians of any discrepancies in the charts.
• Maintain and regularly purge charts.
• Ensure labs and consultation reports are received for scanning and filing.
• Send information to outside facilities for continuity of care.
• Enter data into the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system.
• Prepare correct forms from hospital policies for medical records.
• Support telepsychiatrists by scanning medical records information.

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED with at least two years of general office or administrative experience.
• Experience working in a medical records department.
• Experience scanning and filing records.
• Working knowledge of Release of Information.
• Proficiency in the MS Office Suite.
• Experience with an EMR system is a plus but not required.
