Acquisitions Editor

About the role

The Daily Grace Co. is looking for an Acquisitions Editor to source, evaluate, and acquire Bible studies, trade books, and theological titles that support its mission of providing biblically rich resources. The role bridges editorial, theological, and market considerations to expand the publishing program.

Key responsibilities

• Identify and assess high‑quality manuscript proposals aligned with the company’s statement of faith.
• Negotiate contracts and manage author agreements in partnership with the Director of Acquisitions.
• Provide developmental feedback to authors during early stages of the project.
• Prepare acquisition recommendations, market analyses, and financial assessments for leadership review.
• Collaborate with editorial, marketing, and design teams to ensure smooth hand‑offs and successful publication.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in theology, publishing, English or a related field (Master’s preferred).
• 1‑3 years of experience in book publishing, acquisitions, or developmental editing.
• Strong theological understanding consistent with The Daily Grace Co.’s statement of faith.
• Proven track record of signing titles that meet both mission and financial objectives.
• Excellent editorial judgment, written communication, and interpersonal skills.

Required skills

• Contract negotiation and P&L preparation.
• Knowledge of the Christian publishing market and its audiences.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines independently.
• Awareness of emerging publishing technologies and AI tools for efficiency.
