Accuracy Control Engineer (All Levels)

About the role

The Accuracy Control Engineer develops and maintains dimensional control systems that ensure large ship structures align correctly throughout fabrication, assembly, and erection. This role defines measurement standards, control points, and engineering processes that enable reliable modular ship construction while minimizing rework.

Key responsibilities

• Establish and manage the shipyard’s accuracy control program governing dimensional tolerances across all fabrication stages.
• Define measurement standards and control processes for panels, sub‑assemblies, blocks, and erected structures.
• Implement advanced metrology technologies such as laser scanning, total stations, and digital measurement tools.
• Track dimensional variation throughout production and develop procedures to resolve fit‑up conflicts.
• Define allowable tolerances in coordination with naval architects and structural engineers.
• Investigate dimensional discrepancies, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions.
• Integrate dimensional control data with digital ship models, supporting digital twins and production simulations.
• Collaborate closely with production engineering, welding engineering, quality assurance, and ship design teams.
