Accountant I – Payroll Support

About the role
Under the supervision of the Department's Payroll Manager, the Accountant I provides complex accounting and clerical support for payroll operations serving 200‑400 staff members with an annual payroll budget of $2M‑$4.5M.
Key responsibilities
- Process appointments, terminations, pay adjustments, time‑entry changes and timesheet corrections each semester.
- Assist employees with pay‑stub retrieval, payroll forms, direct‑deposit setup, parking registration and timesheet access.
- Enroll staff in payroll deductions for meals and answer general payroll and benefits inquiries.
- Prepare labor analysis reports and provide data to unit administrators.
- Maintain office supply inventory and procure additional items following established procedures.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related field with at least nine accounting credits.
- Thorough knowledge of payroll and human‑resources practices, basic mathematics, and modern office procedures.
Required skills
- Experience with Workday payroll system.
- Experience with UKG (formerly Kronos) payroll platform.
