Accountant Associate II - Corporate Subsidiaries

About the role

MassMutual is hiring an Accounting Associate II for its Corporate Subsidiaries Controllership team, based in Boston or Springfield, Massachusetts. The role reports to the Director of Corporate Subsidiaries Controllership and covers accounting, reporting and control activities for MassMutual's non-insurance subsidiaries, with a focus on investment activity and related financial results. It is a full-time position.

Key responsibilities

• Partner with Investment Management and other stakeholders to analyze transactions, resolve accounting issues, support close and audit requirements and improve reporting processes.
• Compile and prepare accounting records for non-insurance subsidiaries such as venture capital, asset management, bank, technology and holding companies.
• Support the monthly, quarterly and annual close cycles and contribute to internal and external audits.
• Analyze non-routine transactions and prepare concise executive summaries for leadership.
• Identify and implement accounting improvements, lead continuous improvement activities and recommend changes to the control environment.
• Take part in implementing the company's new ledger and investment ecosystem.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree.
• 4+ years of accounting, reporting, controls and/or governance experience with a track record of increasing responsibility.
• Ideal: CPA, knowledge of U.S. GAAP and statutory accounting, and experience in legal entity controller roles.
• Ability to work in a dynamic, agile environment and communicate clearly with leadership, staff and regulators.
