Account Technician - Meter Services

About the role

The City of Fort Worth is looking for a detail‑oriented, customer‑focused Account Technician to support accurate water billing and account records. You will work with smart water technologies, dispatch work orders, and ensure data quality across multiple systems.

Key responsibilities

• Dispatch work orders to field staff and prioritize service requests.
• Monitor system‑generated reports to detect data issues and service discrepancies.
• Enter and maintain account, meter, and service data across multiple software systems.
• Perform data quality checks on meter readings used for billing.
• Collaborate with field crews, billing teams, and water development staff to ensure accurate records.
• Review GIS and utility maps to verify meter infrastructure locations.
• Support special projects, audits, and process improvements.

Required profile

• Associate’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or a related field.
• At least one year of experience in customer service, data entry, account maintenance, or work order processing.
• Preferred: experience with AMI systems (RNI, MDMS) and familiarity with billing or CRM platforms.
• Preferred: bilingual English/Spanish and experience in dispatching or queue management.

• Billing systems and customer relationship management (CRM) software.
• Asset/work order management platforms.
• Geographical Information System (GIS) for utility mapping.
• Data entry and QA/QC of meter and invoice data.
