Access Coordinator III – Behavioral Health Service Line

About the role

The Access Coordinator III supports the Behavioral Health Service Line at UAMS, acting as a patient resource for scheduling, billing inquiries, and data collection. Working under supervision, the role ensures accurate billing, timely collections, and smooth appointment coordination for clinical programs in the Psychiatric Research Institute.

Key responsibilities

• Verify insurance eligibility, explain benefits, obtain authorizations and pre‑certifications, and gather outside medical records.
• Schedule and coordinate appointments, surgeries, and tests using hospital scheduling systems.
• Collect, post, and reconcile payments, issue receipts, and counsel patients on financial matters.
• Maintain patient charts, track referrals, and perform other duties to support patient care activities.

Required profile

• High School Diploma or GED.
• At least three years of registration or scheduling experience in a healthcare setting.
• Strong communication, telephone etiquette, and customer‑service skills.
• Basic knowledge of medical terminology; CHAA certification is preferred.

Required skills

• Basic computer and keyboard proficiency.
• Operation of standard office equipment (printers, scanners).
