Access Coordinator II – Patient Services

About the role

The Access Coordinator II provides comprehensive support for patient care activities across multiple clinics, including the Jones Eye Institute, Surgery, and Radiology. Working under supervision, the role ensures smooth patient flow, accurate registration, and effective communication with patients and third‑party payers.

Key responsibilities

• Schedule, reschedule, coordinate and cancel appointments using the hospital system and conduct pre‑registration as needed.
• Check‑in and register patients, create new patient charts, and manage orders.
• Verify insurance coverage, explain benefits, and collect payments while issuing receipts.
• Assist with hospital admissions, surgery scheduling, and coordination of referrals, consults, tests, and procedures.
• Provide front‑desk service: greet the public, answer phones professionally, and resolve conflicts.
• Maintain accurate patient records, update information, and document continuing education hours.

Required profile

• High school diploma/GED.
• At least two years of customer service or healthcare experience.
• Excellent telephone etiquette and ability to handle conflicts positively.
• General knowledge of office equipment such as printers and scanners.

Required skills

• Basic proficiency with computers, preferably MS Office.
