Academic Advisor – Student Success

About the role

The Academic Advisor provides comprehensive academic guidance and enrollment support to students at East Central University. The role focuses on promoting educational success and retention through personalized advising, resource connection, and academic planning.

Key responsibilities

• Advise students on course selection, academic planning, and degree requirements through regular, meaningful meetings.
• Enroll students in appropriate courses and coordinate placement testing.
• Create and implement educational events aimed at student development and retention.
• Provide strategies and resources for time management, study skills, and overall academic success.
• Monitor student progress, conduct proactive outreach to at‑risk students, and develop intervention plans.
• Collaborate with university departments to address student inquiries and support needs.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred.
• Experience in higher‑education student services or academic advising is preferred.
• Strong interpersonal communication skills and ability to work with diverse populations.
• Demonstrated problem‑solving, organizational, and confidentiality skills.
• Valid driver’s license.
