A320 Design Liaison Engineer (MAP)

About the role

Airbus Commercial Aircraft is seeking an Airframe Design Liaison Engineer for its Mobile, AL facility. The A320 Family MAP Structures Design Engineer provides technical development, justification, and engineering approval of design solutions for primary and secondary structure non‑conformities, acting as the critical interface between the shop floor and Airbus design offices.

Key responsibilities

• Author, validate, and authorize technical solutions, repair drawings and rework instructions for structural deviations.
• Ensure absolute compliance with aircraft safety, Airbus design principles and continuous airworthiness requirements.
• Create and approve temporary aircraft definitions for testing and special instructions.
• Act as the liaison between Chief Engineering/Design Offices and local manufacturing and quality assurance teams on the Final Assembly Line.
• Represent Airbus Chief Engineering in international technical working groups to resolve cross‑border structural issues.
• Provide on‑site engineering support throughout the manufacturing process, from section delivery to final flight.

Required profile

• Bachelor of Science in Aerospace, Aeronautical, Mechanical, Electrical or Systems Engineering (or equivalent).
• 3+ years progressive experience in aircraft airframe structure design and support.
• In‑depth knowledge of primary and secondary aircraft structures, repair design principles and structural data assessment.
• Strong understanding of Airbus design frameworks, configuration management and change request processes.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Airbus Structural Repair Manual (SRM).
• Proficiency with Aircraft Maintenance Manual (AMM).
• Proficiency with Illustrated Parts Catalog (IPC).
• Experience handling Design Query Notes (DQNs) and non‑conformity toolsets.
