2027 Summer Research Internship

About the role

The Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis is offering a 9‑week summer internship in 2027 for undergraduate students interested in economic research, education, and digital archives. Interns work in a hybrid environment, gaining hands‑on experience with data, policy, and historical resources while contributing to the Bank’s mission.

Key responsibilities

• Research macroeconomic data sources, compile anecdotal information, create charts and tables, and conduct statistical/econometric analysis using STATA, Matlab, and R.
• Write summary reports on methodology and results for the Research Division.
• Produce and update K‑12 economic education content, align it with national and state standards, manage educator email databases, and support professional‑development workshops.
• Assist website development initiatives for the education program.
• Conduct historical document research, evaluate online resources, write professional content for the FRASER collection, and develop research guides.
• Learn basic automation of tasks with Python and Microsoft Power Apps.

Required profile

• Overall GPA of 3.5 or higher.
• Undergraduate student, rising junior or senior preferred.
• Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in economics, finance, education, library and information science, or a related field.
• Strong interest and proficiency in math/statistics or education.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Required skills

• STATA, Matlab, R for statistical analysis.
• Python and Microsoft Power Apps for basic automation.
• Advanced Excel, Word, and Adobe Acrobat.
