Varsity Coed Cross Country Coach – 2026-2027 School Year

About the role

The Buffalo Board of Education is seeking a qualified Varsity Coed Cross Country Coach for the 2026-2027 school year at PS 304 Hutchinson Central Technical High School. The coach will develop and lead the cross‑country program, preparing student‑athletes for competition while fostering a positive, inclusive team environment.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, conduct, and supervise daily practices and seasonal competitions (Monday‑Saturday, including some holidays).
• Teach game strategies, techniques, and rules of cross country.
• Maintain equipment, uniforms, and supplies; manage inventory and requests.
• Adhere to the NFHS Coaches Code of Ethics and model nondiscriminatory practices.
• Collaborate with the Athletics Director, building principal, parents, and school administrators.

Required profile

• Experience coaching organized cross country at club, junior varsity, varsity, or college level (preferred).
• Effective coaching techniques and knowledge of sport rules, regulations, and strategies.
• Ability to build and maintain professional relationships with students, parents, and staff.
• Employment under the Board of Education in accordance with the Master Contract.

Required skills

• First Aid/CPR/AED certification (mandatory before coaching).
• Valid New York State Physical Education teaching certificate or equivalent.
• Completion of a NY State Coaching Certification program (Erie 1 BOCES or NFHS pathway).
