Utilities Engineer – Transportation

About the role

Horrocks is seeking a Utilities Engineer specialized in transportation projects to lead utility design, relocation, and coordination efforts from concept through construction. You will work closely with multidisciplinary teams to ensure utility systems integrate seamlessly into large‑scale transportation initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with engineers, designers, third‑party coordinators, and field staff on utility design, relocation, and constructability for transportation projects.
• Coordinate utility relocation activities with federal, state, local agencies and utility owners, adhering to all applicable codes and regulations.
• Develop detailed design documents, ensure compliance with specifications, and review calculations and drawings prepared by others.
• Assist in preparing proposals, contracts, cost estimates, and negotiate changes with sub‑consultants and clients.
• Produce technical reports and studies that clearly communicate findings and meet client requirements.
• Support project delivery to meet schedule, budget, and quality targets.

Required profile

• Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering.
• Professional Engineering (PE) license.
• 5+ years of overall engineering experience, including at least 2 years in transportation design or construction.

Required skills

• Proficiency with MicroStation (ORD).
• Strong command of Microsoft Office Suite.
