Tobacco Treatment Specialist

About the role

The Cancer Prevention and Control Program at Georgetown Lombardi Comprehensive Cancer Center seeks a Tobacco Treatment Specialist (TTS) and research assistant to support a smoking‑cessation intervention trial for high‑risk lung‑cancer screening participants. The position starts in July 2026 and operates in a hybrid work model.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver telephone‑based smoking cessation counseling to trial participants.
• Perform participant assessments and manage trial data.
• Support clinical trial logistics, including scheduling, tracking, and documentation.
• Collaborate with the Lung Screening, Tobacco, and Health (LSTH) team and assist with the TEAL trial protocol.
• Report to Dr. Kathryn Taylor and Dr. Randi Williams.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in pre‑med, public health, psychology, or a related social science.
• Two‑year commitment to the project.
• Prior experience in behavioral or clinical research projects.
• Experience in clinical settings, familiarity with Electronic Health Records (EHR) and Institutional Review Boards (IRBs).
• Training in tobacco treatment will be provided if not already completed.

Required skills

• REDCap for data capture.
• Microsoft Excel for data handling.
• Statistical software such as SPSS or SAS.
• Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems.
